The Talent Exchange

Community Exchange System (South Africa)

Caught in the money trap? Break free by joining the Talent Exchange

moneyConventional money causes poverty because it is based on debt. It comes into existence when banks grant loans. This determines the quantity of money, which has nothing to do with the amount of money people need to live decent lives. Talent Exchange ‘money’ is created by its members so it can never be in short supply. So long as you can offer something of value to the community you can have from the community goods and services of like value. Join the growing community who have discovered a new way of ‘doing’ money.”

Abstinence Only

Okay, let’s say you’re at a party innocently hugging or kissing someone and find your hands begin to wander or your groin start to press rhythmically against them: Don’t Panic! This is the Lord’s way of saying that this is exactly the right person for you to spend the rest of your life with. In practically no time at all you’ll be settling down and having lots of children together in a celebration of goodness and obedience to each other and the Lord. Until that time however, what’s important is that you not let them get away! Masturbating each other through your clothing or underwear is a good way to keep faith partners both chaste and interested during those critical few weeks before you get married.

The website that makes abstinence fun!

PAST LIVES PT 2.

A lot of things have been happening in my life, especially lately, to make me really think about the whole past lives thing. I used to think it was possible, because without knowing for sure you couldn’t say for definites that it’s nonesense. But the whole idea is becoming such a reality for me now. I have always felt that I’m a spirit trapped inside a body, a body I can’t quite relate to as being my own shell, but it keeps my feet planted on the ground, just about.

When I instantly recognise someone’s soul from the instant I meet them… only to discover they are exactly who I knew they were from the beginning… I start to wonder in which context I knew them before. As a friend, brother, lover… teacher… someone who would have been in a position to have made a lasting impression on me definitely. Not the lady at the corner shop…

The other day I blogged about the genographic project and it got me to thinking for the first time that maybe my memories from past lives are genetic memories. Just like instincts are passed down from generation to generation in animals, maybe my memories of these people and past experiences are trapped in my cells, and if I listen really closely to my instincts I can draw on the knowledge at any time.

Maybe our souls are actually not some floaty spirit things that hover around us but lifetimes trapped inside our DNA. If you consider that your DNA is made up from billions of other peoples DNA, this would explain the feeling of one-ness with the universe that can be reached in moments of ecstacy.

I’m just toying with the idea now, because I can’t quite get to grips with the fact that I live in a body. I do feel like a spirit, pretty much all the time… but this new idea is starting to take root.

Wow check out these amazing sea creatures!

Horseshoe Crab: INCREDIBLY a 100 million year old species that looks like a living fossil. It looks like Alien… maybe it was the inspiration for the movie… anyway heres a website from the University or Delaware College of Marine Studies devoted to the Horseshoe Crab.

Aw and look at the mudskipper! Such a cute little face. Looks like he doesn’t trust us one bit. That’s because he knows he’s a particularly tasty treat.

Natural Birth

Okay I’ll admit that I only began reading this webpage because I have a bit of a fetish for pregnant women, and the image struck me a bit, but then I became interested…

“The antithesis of a natural birth is a medically managed, passive hospital birth. I believe our current standard of medically managed birth is the first step in stripping a mother of trust in her instincts and decision making abilities.”

The Wheel ‘O Yum

Is this scene familiar?

You’re standing in the parking lot with several co-workers trying to decide where to eat lunch.

Where are we going for lunch?
I don’t know…how about you?
Doesn’t matter to me, where do you want to go?
How about pizza?
Pizza again?
So where do you want to go?
I don’t care…whatever you guys want.
. . .

The Wheel O Yum helps eliminate these mind-bending decisions. It accepts votes from each person and constructs a wheel to spin for an answer to that dreaded decision:
Where do you want to go today?

Some things about lightning you maybe didn’t know

  • In 1998, lightning killed an entire football team in Congo whilst leaving the home side completely unscathed.
  • Every second 100 lightning strikes hit the Earth producing as much energy per year as 75,000 megaton bombs!!
  • On average, an airplane is hit by lightning once a year.
  • Roy Sullivan, a former US park ranger has been hit by lighting seven times! Lightning has burned off his eyebrows, seared his shoulder, set his hair on fire, injured his ankle, and burned his belly and chest.
  • One lightning strike carries 30 million volts?as much electricity as 2.5 million car batteries.
  • A St. Elmo’s Fire is a type of lightning that clings to ships’ masts and makes them glow. It was named for a 4th-century Italian bishop, Elmo, patron saint of fire.

The Pilgrim

Christopher Lambert, a retired architect, walked on foot from his home in Devon all the way to Rome (catching the ferry on the way). All he had with him was a rucksack, spare pair of socks, sketchpad and a walking stick. The journey took 71 days. Along the way he was taken into working monasteries, he sketched the places and people he saw and even wrote a poem to his feet. You can check out some of his sketches on the website. Take a listen to his fascinating short story. It’s pretty funny and extremely honest.

Travelling a long journey by foot through a fascinating new country is something I’ve always wanted to do… although it would be more fun to do it with one other person.

Adobe to buy Macromedia

Wow this is pretty huge. If you don’t know, Macromedia is pretty much the leader in the web design world, with Dreamweaver and Flash being the premiere design/development tools, and Adobe is the all around god in the print design world, with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. This merger could lead to some serious price hikes in the cost of applications, as Macromedia currently gives Adobe a (small?) run for their money.

However, I’m hoping Adobe works their magic on Flash and makes that program actually work (easily) as I’ve been surprised for years that such a prominent piece of the Internet has so many major flaws in the actual programming software.

This is going to have a million g33ks all abuzz with speculation over all of the possibilities…

The Genographic Project

DNA helix“Scientists have begun an ambitious five-year project to collect DNA samples from more than 100 000 people around the world to use them to create a virtual family tree of the genetic connections among humans.

The Genographic Project has assembled an international team of scientists at 10 locations under the auspices of the National Geographic Society and IBM to better understand how modern humans migrated from their ancestral home in Africa. The aim is to create the largest-ever database of human genetic information.

The core of the Genographic Project is a field effort to collect 100 000 samples from indigenous communities around the world. Those communities are “absolutely key to the success of this project,” Wells said, because their genetic markers are the most reliable indicators of shared human lineage, and because their cultures are under threat from migration and intermixing.

The society also is selling DNA sampling kits for $99.95 on its website with proceeds to go toward educational and cultural efforts in indigenous communities.

At Wednesday’s news conference announcing the project’s launch, project leader Spencer Wells offered examples of how the project could enrich human knowledge, with the assistance of indigenous volunteers.

Mongolian native Tumur Battur learned that he was a descendant of famed Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan, courtesy of previous research that had discovered genetic similarities among ethnic groups along Genghis Khan’s path across Asia. “I was so excited,” he said.

Phil Bluehouse, a Navajo from the US state of Arizona, broke down in tears when Wells traced his genetic origins to Mongolia, confirming an instinct he had since childhood. “It’s always been something that was in me, and finally I was able to say ‘yeah’,” he said. “I don’t know what else to say. It’s wonderful.” iafrica.com
