We regret to announce the unfortunate death of Olivia, who on the 29th of June of this year was randomly buried alive by the next-door neighbor. This unfortunate incident occurred in the forest behind an outhouse. The deceased was reported to have shouted “I should have listened to my horoscope!” just before expiring. Olivia is survived by a goldfish. Funeral services will be held the 3rd of next month.

Fainting Goats (watch the video)
They’re some of Tennessee’s best-known creatures: the fainting goats of Marshall County. The Goats, Music and More Festival is expected to bring throngs to the area the weekend of October 11th.
Farmer Gene McNutt says the condition that causes his goats to become stiff-legged and keel over doesn’t hurt the animals, but it has made them a tourist attraction. Whenever they’re startled the goats just drop and, after a few minutes on the ground, eventually regain their equilibrium.
Beauty contest for goats
Croat farmers have staged a beauty contest for goats in a bid to publicise the fact that traditional goat farming is dying out.
Ivan Perko, owner of Lucy who won the event and is from the western Croatian village of Most Rasa, said: “I always knew she was the most beautiful goat in the world and now it’s been proven.”

The dominant theme of this month’s edition of Shambhala Sun is peace. In the cover story, Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh relates international understanding to his hallmark teachings on mindfulness:
“When we listen deeply to another person, we not only recognize their wrong perceptions, but we also identify our own wrong perceptions about ourselves and about the other person. That is why mindful dialogue and mindful communication is crucial to removing anger and violence.”

This site combines a few of my favorite things. Pictures of abandoned places, graffiti art, surreal and organic Flash, and ambient music. You can tell a lot of hard work went into this.
You can rush through the rooms if you like, but I’m quite enjoying the ambience of a few of them. Hell, I even lit incense and candles… shut off the lights… put on my headphones…” ~ Sauceruney

TransVision 2004
Transhumanism is a nascent approach to bioethics, futurism, art and culture whose adherents affirm the use of technology to overcome the limitations of the human body.
“Transhumanism, as both a philosophical and cultural phenomenon, has experienced exponential growth worldwide in recent years. Cloning, stem cell research, cybernetics and other novel reproductive and health technologies illustrate the rapid pace at which society and culture are changing. Our sense of who and what we are is rapidly expanding and diversifying, as are our means of expression and self-actualization. Consequently, an exciting and provocative new community of social activists, artists and cultural facilitators is emerging. As art and life continue to reflect and create each other, both are changing as we move into a posthuman form and into a posthuman era.”
SPAM POISON FOR WEBSITES
Fight Back Against Spammers
“All you have to do is link to this page so that whenever a spammer’s robot scans your page, they will be sucked into this one. To link to this page, just use this simple code provided. E-mail collecting robots will be sent in an infinite loop and will get dynamically generated fake e-mail addresses, adding enormous quantities of bogus data to the databases of the spammers, thus polluting those files so badly that they become essentially useless. They will have to clean out their databases or will receive a LOT of returned email :-)”

Well we are back from our secret holiday. So many thanks go to Bsti, Niq, Sauceruney and Burp for taking such good care of my baby for me!
Last year I booked a secret holiday retreat without letting Pieter know the details. I had to book far in advance because this place only take 3 couples at a time and is really sought-after. It really was worth waiting for such a long time to get in. This spot is perfect for an anniversary prezzie ;)

Man Has 20-Feet Long Hair; Hasn’t Been Cut In 30 Years
“Normally tied up and covered by a scarf, his hair has grown four feet in the past seven years. He last had it washed six years ago.”

A very shiny musical flash animation I found at Bifurcate Rivets.
Since our Lovely Hostess is on Holiday, we at Chapel Perilous have been requested to throw a link or two here in her absence.
It’s very, very hot here in Portland Oregon USA, and difficult to surf the web under the circumstances. Difficult to sit at a desk in a closed room and find nifty nuggets. But we’ll do our best with at least one a day.
I found this very interesting, and you might too, at least for the artwork!

“Aerospace engineer Brad Edward’s plan for the space elevator centers on a carbon-nanotube-composite ribbon 62,000 mile long, 3 feet wide and thinner than a page of newsprint. The competing forces of gravity at the terrestrial end of the elevator and the centripetal acceleration at the deep-space end would keep the ribbon taut and stationary over a single position at Earth’s equator. Climbing vehicles powered by Earth based lasers striking solar cells would haul various payloads/cargo/astronauts to various orbits.”
But how does it counteract the effects of the Van Allen Belt?
