Musicovery Web Radio

A brilliant way to discover new music or old haunts based on your mood. A personal song list is strung together for you by genre and decade in small clusters. Each colour represents a different genre, and you can dig even deeper by selecting your mood.

(Because I screwed up the track link last time. Weirdly this was posted a year ago to the day!)
Felix LabandMore and more gorgeous progressive sounds are coming out of South Africa these days. If you’re a fan of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada or múm, you might have already heard of Felix Laband… but just in case you haven’t, you’re going to love this:

Felix Laband - Whistling in Tongues

I get goosebumps from the drums near the end. Gets me all riled up!

I loved this track so much I couldn’t stop myself from buying his album. It’s infectious, delicious perfection.

DRM Cracked

Wired Magazine reports that someone has figured out how to crack the Windows DRM (Digital Rights Management) they use to prevent file sharing, particularly with music downloads. The article indicates that you too can crack the code by downloading a piece of software and then using that to unlock the security that sites like Napster use to keep users subscribed.

I’m such a fan of this, as I think DRM is complete bull - so now I can “unlock” all of the songs I bought and actually play them anywhere I want, and do with them as I please. Of course, those of you who would like to use the software for less legal means, more power to you and yours.
