Etsy.com - Simply the most marvellous thing Nathan’s showed me since the time he tipped his cowboy hat in my direction and said “howdy”.
These are all my absolute favourite things. Click each square and press the “buy for miss wakame” button:
Okay, I’ve finished my knitted blanket and now I want to crochet a wide border around the edges. I dont want anything too frilly or fussy though. Can anyone recommend some really good “learn to crochet” sites and perhaps some more with amazing patterns around the same quality as knitty.com?
Reuters: If you’re stuck for entertainment in New York on a Friday night, and as long as you’re man enough, try learning to rib at “Boyz Nite” at a Greenwich Village venue from 9 until late.
Knit New York, a wool and craft store in Lower Manhattan, is fighting the stereotype that knitting is the province of women. “Are you strong enough to knit and man enough to purl?” says an advertisement for Boyz Nite on the shop’s Web site. A sign on the street outside invites passersby to come in and bring their own beer: “Boyz Nite. 9 pm - ?? BYOB.”
The store draws dozens of men to its weekly men’s night where beginners and experts gather to exchange tips over beer and hot dogs. more…
I remember falling in love the minute I laid my eyes on Remus’ dreamlike window display. The prettiest objects I had ever seen were suspended on thin air above a magickal garden. I felt myself being pulled inside through irresistable scents and visions into a tiny little world of perfection. Each item inside has been carefully selected on tiny orders of sometimes just two or three from various artists and craftsmen around the world. And as renowned as Brighton is for its unusual boutique and gift shops, you won’t find Eikonoclast items anywhere else in Brighton. Remus hunts high and low to find the most exquisite and exclusive items. Most of the time I just pass by to press my nose up against his pristine windows and see which new visual treat he has created. The man is a genius when it comes to aesthetics and creates the best window displays you will ever see. And don’t get me started on his crystal jewellery…
Some of my favourite items: Subtle and traditional Japanese incense, Mariage Frères - the most delicious range of teas you will ever taste, notebooks covered in silk from wedding kimonos, screen printed orchid lampshades.
But please don’t stop here… take a peek inside! more…
