Kent Walking Festival site launched

A new addition to my portfolio! This one was quite a challenge as it had to be AAA Accessible yet still visually appealing. (I’ve also never built an accessible site before). I found the only way to achieve both was to create the site entirely in valid CSS. The resulting code is streamlined and the site seems to render correctly on mac, pc and all the browsers I could find. The site has a content management back-end too.

If you’re interested in accessible website design, take a look at the accessibility features for the kent walking festival site. If you’re a web designer, there’s no escaping it. You’ll end up building an accessible site eventually, as it’s all heading that way. I throughly recommend Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 - this very slick upgrade seems entirely geared towards accessible design, where the previous version failed.

I’ve learn so much from producing this site and plan to eventually design all my new sites with accessibility in mind. Just because it has to be accessible, shouldn’t mean good design has to suffer. Give it a bash and you’ll see what I mean!
