The comments popup is working again!
If you have suddenly have problems with your comments system since new and improved Blogger, it could be because Blogger have changed the length of the BlogItemNumber to 18 numbers, too many numbers for a LongInteger field to hold. It is not possible to have integers of a magnitude larger than about 2.1 billion. So there you have it. You will need to change the field type to text and amend your script to fix the problem.

Cross-platform web design steps back into the dark ages
Internet ExplorerRoz Ho, the general manager of Microsoft’s Mac Business Unit, has confirmed that no future versions of Internet Explorer will be released for the Mac.

Ho says that the decision has been made to make way for Apple’s own Safari browser. ‘Some of the key customer requests for web browsing on the Mac require close development between the browser and the OS, something to which only Apple has access,’ she explained.

Microsoft has also decided to phase out standalone versions of IE for Windows. Microsoft’s Brian Countryman said in a recent interview, ‘As part of the OS (operating system), IE will continue to evolve, but there will be no future standalone installations. IE6 SP1 is the final standalone installation.’

HIV/AIDS Made In America?
beaded AIDS Ribbon made in South AfricaThis week in California a prominent lawyer and AIDS researcher, Dr. Boyd E Graves JD is suing the U.S. government, claiming that the HIV-AIDS virus is a man made virus developed and manufactured in the United States with the knowledge of the U.S. government, manufactured in American laboratories between 1962 and 1978. Dr. Graves claims he has hundreds of government documents proving HIV-AIDS was designed as biological terrorism against African-Americans.

In April 1984, Dr. Robert Gallo filed a United States patent application for his invention, the HIV-AIDS Virus. The Patent number for the invention is 4647773, details of which can be found at the US Patent Office website.”

Dr. Boyd claims “The HIV-AIDS Virus was manufactured as a designer bi-product of the US Special Virus programme, a federal virus development programme that persisted in the United States from 1962 until 1978. Dr. Robert Gallo’s 1971 Special Virus paper reveals that the United States was seeking a “virus particle” that would negatively impact the defence mechanisms of the immune system. The programme sought to modify the genome of the virus particle in which to splice in an animal wasting disease called Visna.” Graves says Dr. Gallo’s 1971 Special Virus paper is identical to his 1984 announcement of AIDS, and in 2001 Dr. Gallo conceded his role as “Project Officer” for the federal virus development programme, the Special Virus.

Dr. Boyd claims to have one piece of evidence he’s convinced will force the judge to rule in his favour saying: “If that happens the government will be forced to release all sorts of previously-classified research which proves the real origins of HIV-AIDS. The United States must account to the American people and the people of the world for the U.S. Special Virus Program.”

If this were to be proved true, two questions emerge. Firstly, for what reason was such a deadly virus invented? Secondly, according to all the laws governing the manufacture, development and deployment of biological and chemical weapons, was the invention and use of the HIV-AIDS virus by the United States the first act of mass bio-terrorism the world has witnessed?

Cuteness overload!!!
Today I stumbled upon the RAT FAN CLUB – a pet rat discussion forum. People have posted the most adorably sweeeeeet piccies of their ratties! My heart aches when I look at these piccies. I can’t wait to have enough space and a garden to spoil a happy rat again. They are the most loyal, loving, gentle and sweet pets – something you just can’t imagine until you’ve had the pleasure of fostering one.

apexenotransplantation
The largest amount of data about animal experiments in UK laboratories that has ever been made public was recently released after a judge overturned an injunction against publication of the material. The 1,274 pages provide detailed accounts of attempts made from 1994 to 2000 by Government-sanctioned Huntingdon Life Sciences, the largest laboratory research firm in Europe, to perfect methods of creating animals from which organs can be safely transplanted into human beings. The documents refer to the transplanting of genetically modified pigs’ hearts and kidneys into monkeys.

pigletIt revealed many sordid cases of unimaginable suffering, and one previously confidential paper which reveals how the Home Office worked with Imutran – the former British subsidiary of multi-million drug giant Novartis, which was in control of the programme – to underestimate the suffering caused by the most severe experiments.

An Imutran report states: ‘The Home Office will attempt to get the kidney transplants classified as “moderate”, ensuring that it is easier for Imutran to receive a licence and ignoring the “severe” nature of these programmes.’

Other striking findings reveal that the Government approved Imutran’s xenotransplanation experiments with the intention of using sick babies as the first trial patients for animal heart transplants.

In total, the documents reveal at least 520 errors and omissions in the Imutran research. These include organ weights not being recorded, a quadruple overdose, conflicting pathology reports and re-use of animals. One primate was killed when a swab was left inside it.

"Feed me!"The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes a few seconds to go to their site and click on “feed an animal in need” for free. This doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Pass it along to people you know.

Do you want to know the real truth about what is happening in Zimbabwe this week?
Read Cathy Buckle’s letters.

MugabeSat 14 June ~ “Don’t wear red! This week in Zimbabwe everyone is whispering to their friends and neighbours not to wear red clothes because if you do you will be beaten by government supporters. It’s happening in the capital city and the little towns and this week in Marondera workers at a prominent butchery in the town were beaten by unknown men for wearing red clothes because this is a colour associated with the opposition.”

Sat 10 May ~ “Dear Family and Friends, It was with deep shock and disgust that Zimbabwe learned this week that our police commissioner Augustine Chihuri has been appointed the Honorary Vice President of Interpol. The double standards shown by European countries to the horrific state of our daily lives in Zimbabwe leaves me just spitting with rage… A police spokesman in Harare said the award proves to the world that Zimbabwean police are both professional and non partisan.”

The UK & US Liberate an island and show us how they like to practice what they preach

scene from the island at sunset“Four decades ago, when the U.S. and the Soviet Union were racing to get footholds in this region, the U.S. discovered Diego Garcia, a coral island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The Americans had asked the British, their longtime allies, who still had colonies in the region, to find an uninhabited island for their base. There was just one problem — there were inhabitants on Diego Garcia and they have been living there for more than 200 years.

The military base employs several thousand civilians but bars anyone who used to live on the island from working there. But the British didn’t see that as a problem. They simply moved all the inhabitants 1,200 miles away to other tropical islands, Mauritius and the Seychelles. “When the final time came and the ships were chartered, they weren’t allowed to take anything with them except a suitcase of their clothes. The ships were small and they could take nothing else, no furniture, nothing.

The islanders say the other force that got them out was fear when British officials ordered their pets to be exterminated. They were gassed with exhaust fumes from American military vehicles.

The Indian Ocean atoll of Diego Garcia is currently a U.S. base for B-52 bombers and other military weapons. The people of Diego Garcia say they left paradise and landed in hell when they were dumped here in the urban slums of Mauritius. They had brought no possessions and as islanders who had lived off fishing and farming they had no real professional skills. No one helped them resettle or pay for the homes they lost. They were forced to become squatters in a foreign land.

So last August, the islanders appealed directly to President Bush. The Bush administration, however, said it was Britain’s call: ‘Because of the vital role the facility plays in the global war on terrorism, British authorities have denied permission to visit Diego Garcia. We concur and support the decision.’

“The Americans and the British always talk about the champions of human rights. What they did to us they should rectify, they should look after us. You know, they should do what they preach.”

FAB FLASH SITE!
Sounds Like Techno is a new online documentary exploring techno music, from its roots and early influences to its place in Australian music today.

The site examines the impact and effect that the digital revolution has had on this genre. It looks at the way artists and producers use digital equipment and software to produce, promote and distribute their work locally and globally, finding new ways to establish their independence in the network of an ‘old-school’ record industry.”

The Largest Covert Operation in CIA History
CIAAccording to the author of the newly released Charlie Wilson’s War (known as My Enemy’s Enemy in the UK), the exception to CIA incompetence was the arming between 1979 and 1988 of thousands of Afghan moujahedeen (“freedom fighters”). The agency flooded Afghanistan with an astonishing array of extremely dangerous weapons and “unapologetically mov[ed] to equip and train cadres of high tech holy warriors in the art of waging a war of urban terror against a modern superpower,” in this case, the USSR.
