Kent Walking Festival 2004
Shortlisted for the Visionary Design Awards 2004 by the NLB (National Library for the Blind).
The sixth South East Walks Partnership Walking Festival was hosted by Kent County Council and ran from 4 - 12 September 2004. It was a great success with over 1250 walks taking place, attracting people from all over the world. This portal offered walkers the opportunity to plan and book their walks online.
I produced this site while working for Designate Advertising in 2003. This was the first site I have ever built that conformed to AAA accessibility standards as set out by the W3C, strengthening the message that people of all abilities could enjoy the festival. I built all the pages with CSS as well as the templates that plugged into the in-house CMS (Content Management System), so that it would be accessible to screen-readers.
The site features:
- W3C compliant CSS 2 stylesheet driven design throughout
- W3C WAI compliant AAA Accessible content
- Optional text-only / accessible format
- CMS (Content Management System) in ASP
- Large catalogue for walks
- WorldPay e-commerce cart for booking walks
- Powerful search feature to find suitable walks
