Brighton Pride Parade 2004
The biggest parade of its kind in the country.
The streets of Brighton were bursting with colour and music and sizzled in the heat. Over 60 floats and 5,000 energetic paraders in costume made their way from Madeira Drive to Preston park to the sound of whistles, drums and music.
The parade was led by off-duty officers from Sussex Police, who were marching in uniform for the first time, to rapturous applause from the crowds.
This year's theme of The Hit Parade was chosen to commemorate the 30th anniversary of ABBA winning the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton.
"Rainbow Winky" won the Brighton Grid Spirit of Brighton & Hove 2004 Photography Competition!
