Chinese State Circus
In spite of the fact that I still have circus music going round and round in my head, this was one of my favourite shows :D
Directed by Fu Yuejin, the Chinese State Circus with its 2000-year tradition was truly unbelievable. From the Plate Spinners, spinning up to 8 plates each whilst doing headstands and various other tricks, to the Kung Fu Wu Su and (my favourite) the Oi Gong (Qi Gong) masters, showing their astonishing self-disciple and balance between mind and body! The show also feature amazing acrobatic, from hoop diving (timing is everything!) to airborne magic on the double poles and bungee trapeze.
Other great acts include, among others, foot jugglers, a contortionist that could move her body into more positions that even a Thai Yoga Master and a chair-balancing act with 9 chairs stacked on top of each other. Another favourite is the unicyclist with her amazing balancing skills… The circus acts cannot be limited to mere words - it has to be experienced! The circus costumes are fantastic, especially for the Lion Dance, while props range between everyday objects like tables, chairs and plates to impressive and more sophisticated objects like the poles and spears.
The Chinese State Circus is a fabulous show that young and old alike will enjoy!
