ANAKLIA Sea Hotel
Gorgeous. I LOVE the underwater aquariumness of it all. And how its like an island. I wonder though, what do they do with all the sewage? I really hope its not going to be like adding more waste dumping cruise ships to the ocean. And I suppose transporting supplies, people and waste back and forth uses up unnecessary fuel. However, I think these could be put to great use as fully autonomous, sustainable community pods in the ocean. Reminds me a little of those amazing high-capacity community buildings in Sim City… I can’t remember what those were called. I would LOVE to live on one. But I imagine being surrounded by plants, friends and children, not in 5 star, poop in the ocean luxury all the time.
Great find Kenna!
Speedway 105 Café
My dad Paul and his twin brother Dave van der Spuy are interviewed @ Speedway Cafe. It’s amazing to see the place jamming — originally a dream of theirs for years and years, and with all the crazy setbacks I was beginning to wonder if it would ever happen. But one thing I know about my dad is that if he’s passionate about something, nothing will stop him. If you live in Cape Town and are a huge fast and classic car and bike enthusiast, you may have already visited. My dad’s the one on the left throughout most of the video. Unbelievably I’ve still never seen it — haven’t been back to Cape Town in over 10 years. I’m dying to go!! Please go for me if you can.

And The Lights Go Out
A lot of people who are into lyrics like I am listen to music that reminds them of the past, their teenage years… the one that got away. Reminiscing. While I appreciate good lyrics, that angle has never really been my style.
There’s something about Hybrid. I’ve been listening to them for years, and like that strange feeling of someone walking over your grave, the stories in some of their songs in particular always felt like something on the horizon. Their sound has swelled and pulsed in me like the heartbeat to the past decade. I wish there was a word for future deja vu. I get glimpses all the time, and the predictions are never wrong. Often I shut it down when I get a peek into the future because its a real surprise killer. Or its too hard to face. I have often thought we all have this ability deep inside, just some are more finely tuned to it — that connection to all that was and ever will be. Deep down I think you know you already have the answer. You already know. Go with your gut instinct.
Falling Free
Nujabes
We find out only today that Nujabes died tragically a few weeks ago in a fatal car accident on the Metropolitan Expressway in Tokyo. He was only 36 years old. The news has been kept private for some time. What a huge loss of talent and passion.
In memory…

Maybe go outside today. Catch a bus. Order a coffee. Visit a bookstore. Or sit on a side-walk. Watch everything around you, life going on with and without you. There is nothing every day about every day life. And you’re still a living part of it.

Help Save Japan’s Dolphins!
More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat. Send a letter to President Obama, Vice President Biden and Japanese Ambassador to the United States Ichiro Fujisaki urging them to address this issue »
