Footskating was originally developed by people who couldn’t afford skateboards, and then also taken up by people who left their skateboards at home, but had already been dropped at the skatepark.

Removable tatoo ink will be available soon!

I’m pretty excited about this:

New York-based Freedom-2 LLC says their ink “will create an expanded market for body art — since consumers can be now assured that the tattoo will come off easily and without exorbitant cost.”

“I think it will open a floodgate for people who want tattoos,” says Dr. Bruce Saal, a Los Gatos, Calif., dermatologist who specializes in laser tattoo removal and has invested in the company. “People will say, ‘I want to do something a little wild. Now that I know it’s not a lifelong commitment, I’ll do it.’ ”

How does it work? This revolutionary ink — only available in black for now — is encapsulated in microscopic polymethylmethacrylate beads (the same synthetic material used to make surgical glue) that fall apart when exposed to laser energy, after which the body’s natural ability to expel foreign particles kicks in and does the rest.

How much will it cost? Freedom-2′s CEO predicts the ink should only add about $50 to the cost of an average tattoo.

No lovin' in China?

I’ve long heard stories of how Chinese families, with a government-imposed limit to how many children they are allowed to bear, would kill their newborn daughters in hopes of having another shot and bearing a son, who could then continue the family name. Now, I can’t be sure of whether or not that is true, but this report in Wired Magazine has China’s gender ratio all askew, with 15 million more males than females between the ages of 5 and 20.

Can you imagine having to compete against 14,999,999 other guys to get that last remaining girl?

Wondertoonel

durka durka!Mark Ryden‘s paintings instantly trigger a warped deja vu. His works recall a parallel universe of 1950s Golden Books and the whimsy of Lewis Carroll. His cheery bunnies, rendered in the glowing hues of children’s books, are more likely to be carving slabs of meat rather than frolicking in the forest.

Some sweet ass tattoo ideas!

Go ahead, commit an atrocity

Atrocities it is then!Have you always wanted to go on a Bonny & Clyde-esque rampage across America, showing those goody-two-shoes know-it-alls the meaning of calamity? Have you always wondered what that little Curious George guy would have turned out like without the guidance of the Man in the Big Yellow Hat? Do you like simple games where your options are to either “move” or “commit atrocity”?

I answered “hell yes!” to all of those questions last night, and so Bobby Stones presented me with this fine piece of programming…

Protect the Western Arctic Reserve From Big Oil

The Western Arctic Reserve, also known as the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, is the largest tract of unprotected, relatively pristine public land in the United States. The 23.5 million-acre reserve is home to imperiled polar bears, seabirds and one of the densest populations of nesting raptors in the world. Its shores and lagoons harbor beluga whales, seals, walruses and other marine mammals. The BLM is accepting comments on a planning document that sets the stage for oil and gas leasing in the western Arctic for decades to come. Help save this national treasure by telling the BLM to protect the Western Arctic Reserve from dirty fossil fuel development »
