Added Vitamins. The kiss that makes it all better.
I got treated for multiple cases of dreaded third world lurgy you don’t even want to know about, two weeks ago. I had a feeling something was off when I tripped quite radically to the moon and back after every single meal, for about 4 months now and sure enough, there were a few serious reasons for that. The doctor was amazed I wasn’t in physical pain too and had so much energy when really I should have been bedridden. I am too now that I think about it. A good friend of mine had to fly back home to Sweden in an emergency with this mystery illness. He could barely walk without nearly passing out when I last saw him a month ago and was tripping most of the time I tried to talk to him.
So anyway. The doctors here are amazing. As in, have no freaking idea what they are doing. I just checked out these “nutritional” capsules I was also given to take for a month, and have been taking daily, to “support your immune system and improve brain function”, and they turn out to be Novocaine!?!! With added vitamins. Wow. that. explains. a lot.
I’m starting to realise that anything that comes with “added vitamins” is the first warning.
Just like chocolate milk, stained so dark from puss and blood from overproducing cows they can’t do anything else with it to mask the taste or colour… with added vitamins. Mmmmmm!
Gone To Pot
Growing, smoking and consuming cannabis is totally legal in Colorado, as long as you have a valid medical reason and a Medical Marijuana License endorsed by a doctor. Dispensaries are everywhere, on just about every block in the city. In the tiny town of Nederland near where I live there are more and more dispensaries cropping up every month. My favourite is by far Grateful Meds. They really care about their patients, they have a great range including rares, edibles, sodas and really hook their regulars up very generously. I chose them to celebrate after having just got my edibles license and will never forget that special day. I love Grateful Meds and will always stick with them.

Mark Rose, owner of the Grateful Meds dispensary in Nederland, weighs out an eighth of an ounce of medical marijuana for a client.
I just watched a great clip about the MMJ scene in Denver on the John Stewart Show (archived) which spawned this post – check it out:
Best Pet Insurance
So I usually don’t do the whole insurance thing, I don’t have any for myself, not even health insurance until its more affordable, but for some reason its different with my kitty Frolina. I realised that she likes to jump up into warm car engines, run all around town in a 3 mile radius, run up trees into stalking cats, wrestle with dogs, lie like a black shadow in dark places I tend to step. She is very high risk. Her enjoyment in life is all about risk. And with my travelling lifestyle on a shoestring I’d never have a spare few grand to cover major surgery that always tends to happen at the worst possible time. So I’ve been looking around for a month for the best most inclusive Pet Insurance, at a very affordable price, with a very low deductible – $100.
I found Pets Best, and got her insured with more coverage and cheaper than I found elsewhere on the most basic plan. Just around $12 a month. In case anyone is interested.
Pain-free blood sugar testing for diabetics
Hong Kong scientists have invented a device to help diabetics measure their blood sugar painlessly for the first time – without pricking their fingers.
The size of a mobile phone, the instrument emits a weaker form of infrared, or near-infrared, which penetrates the skin on the finger and homes in on the bloodstream.
Out of the many components in the blood, the beam is able to identify bits of glucose through the frequency, or wavelengths, they transmit and the amount of blood sugar present would be displayed on the instrument in 10 seconds.
Remedy to cure a chronic sore throat
I’ve always gargled with salt water, but apparently this remedy works when antibiotics do not, and is excellent for those weird sore throats that don’t seem to go away after 4 weeks (the ones that possibly lead to chronic fatigue syndrome).

Controversial EU vitamins ban to go ahead
This is really bad news…
TimesOnline.co.uk: A controversial new EU regulation that has threatened to outlaw thousands of mineral supplements and bankrupt health food stores across Britain was upheld this morning.
The European Court of Justice approved the Food Supplements Directive even though the court’s own Advocate-General advised that the Directive was invalid under EU law.
The ruling – greeted with surprise – is a defeat for a concerted campaign by more than a million British health food customers and shops. They have argued that the law, which will come into effect on August 1, will impose an unprecedented level of regulation on mineral supplements and could threaten the existence of small suppliers. Boy dies after playing computer games for 12 hours non stop
A teenager died in the Russian city of Ekaterinburg after 12 hours of playing computer games. The boy died from stroke after he had spent half of his day playing games in a computer club. Doctors were taking lifesaving efforts for several days, but could not save the boy. The autopsy showed that the brain of a young gamer was totally destroyed.

Help Save Japan’s Dolphins!
More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat. Send a letter to President Obama, Vice President Biden and Japanese Ambassador to the United States Ichiro Fujisaki urging them to address this issue »
