Nature’s Valium

This beautiful, psychedelic looking herb passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) has been used through the ages as a treatment for anxiety, insomnia, and panic disorder, muscle spasms and more. In fact, studies have shown it is equally comparable to benzodiazepine drugs (diazepam, valium, xanax, the list goes on) though with less drowsiness or other harsh side-effects.

Dosage: take 10 drops in decaf tea or juice and enjoy :)

Zinc speeds recovery from colds

The Cochrane Systematic Review of 15 trials (1,360 people), released this month, states:

“We found that zinc (lozenges or syrup) is beneficial in reducing the duration and severity of the common cold in healthy people, when taken within 24 hours of onset of symptoms. People taking zinc are also less likely to have persistence of their cold symptoms beyond seven days of treatment. Zinc supplementation for at least five months reduces incidence, school absenteeism and prescription of antibiotics for children with the common cold.”

One of our greatest fears is to eat the wildness of the world

“… Our mothers intuitively understood something essential: the green is poisonous to civilization. If we eat the wild, it begins to work inside us, altering us, changing us.

Soon, if we eat too much, we will no longer fit the suit that has been made for us. Our hair will begin to grow long and ragged. Our gait and how we hold our body will change. A wild light begins to gleam in our eyes. Our words start to sound strange, nonlinear, emotional. Unpractical. Poetic.

Once we have tasted this wildness, we begin to hunger for a food long denied us, and the more we eat of it the more we will awaken. It is no wonder that we are taught to close off our senses to Nature. Through these channels, the green paws of Nature enter into us, climb over us, search within us, find all our hiding places, burst us open, and blind the intellectual eye with hanging tendrils of green.

The terror is an illusion, of course. For most of our million years on this planet human beings have daily eaten the wild. It’s just that the linear mind knows what will happen if you eat it now.”

No longer shopping at WholeFoods

Or buying Organic Valley or Stonyfield Farms products. I’m sort of shocked. I guess I had a feeling they were too big and therefore all dodgy all along but still hoped there was some integrity at the core.

Huffington Post: The Organic Elite Surrenders To Monsanto: What Now?

It’s time I mainly supported local farms and local produce anyway.

Soothesayer Tea

It’s the perfect time of year for healing yogi tea, made from scratch following the traditional ancient Ayeurvedic recipe. I love drinking it to wind down after yoga, or to just find a still center before bedtime. I can’t get the ingredients out here on the island, so please make it and enjoy.

Ancient recipe’s are kept alive by sharing :)

Added Vitamins. The kiss that makes it all better.

I got treated for multiple cases of dreaded third world lurgy you don’t even want to know about, two weeks ago. I had a feeling something was off when I tripped quite radically to the moon and back after every single meal, for about 4 months now and sure enough, there were a few serious reasons for that. The doctor was amazed I wasn’t in physical pain too and had so much energy when really I should have been bedridden. I am too now that I think about it. A good friend of mine had to fly back home to Sweden in an emergency with this mystery illness. He could barely walk without nearly passing out when I last saw him a month ago and was tripping most of the time I tried to talk to him.

So anyway. The doctors here are amazing. As in, have no freaking idea what they are doing. I just checked out these “nutritional” capsules I was also given to take for a month, and have been taking daily, to “support your immune system and improve brain function”, and they turn out to be Novocaine!?!! With added vitamins. Wow. that. explains. a lot.

I’m starting to realise that anything that comes with “added vitamins” is the first warning.

Just like chocolate milk, stained so dark from puss and blood from overproducing cows they can’t do anything else with it to mask the taste or colour… with added vitamins. Mmmmmm!

Catharsis

Today’s 5am meditation was EXTREMELY powerful! 15 minutes of intense fast hyperventilation through the nose while I used my whole body and pumped my arms to shove the energy out on the outbreath. It creates a massive build up of energy and emotions and deep seated memories that swirl around. Then the music goes nuts for 15 minutes of going absolutely crazy, screaming, yelling, crying, pounding the walls, jumping around, laughing uncontrollably, whatever I wanted as loudly as I wanted! I went completely nuts. Then 15 minutes of exhausting yourself completely by jumping up and down with arms up in the air shouting “hoo hoo hoo!” from the belly. Then standing frozen in silence with arms up in the air for 15 while the energy tingles up and down the body and everything settles down slowly, and finally gorgeous dancing by which point I was just completely tripping out. Mmmm. Yeah. I let go of a LOT of old unwanted stuff. And celebrated life too!

They’re thinking of doing this for 21 days in a row here at InanItah, which I dont think I will be here for the full length of it to complete. But every day I do it, I heal a little bit more. Its wonderful how great I feel all day afterwards.

For more info about Osho’s Dynamic Meditation you can go here. Its available as an mp3, guided. I’d recommend finding a place somewhere to do it where you don’t feel strange about making a massive noise. Like a padded room, or the wilderness ;)

Help Save Japan’s Dolphins!

More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat. Send a letter to President Obama, Vice President Biden and Japanese Ambassador to the United States Ichiro Fujisaki urging them to address this issue »
