20Q.net

Think of an object and the AI will try to figure out what you are thinking by asking simple questions. The object you think of should be something that most people would know about, but, not a specific person, place or thing.

Weekend WarDialing Part I

This number comes from a late night scan that entertained me for quite a while. The stories change every now and then from a boy who is very dirty to a boy who can’t stop picking his nose. If you have a cell phone and you get free nights and weekends or if you have VoIP and nothing better to do join in on the fun.

Net Neutrality, who has the priority?

The future of the internet is uncertain and I for one think this is an ish don’t think so! In the words of the T-Chort “This is making me nervous”. What does the fight for Net Neutrality mean? It means that all those little bits and bytes traveling across the internet have equal priority to their intended destination. With out Net Neutrality Companies will be able to pay to have higher priority to get their bits and bytes over the internet. Why should we care? Well, I will let this site explain this in more detail.

Here are a few things you can do to help.

This Just In "Telephone Tax Refund For Everyone!"

“Today is a good day for American taxpayers; it marks the beginning of the end of an outdated , antiquated tax that has survived a century beyond its original purpose, and by now should have been ancient history,” said Treasury Secretary John Snow in a statement.”

I was listening to Off The Hook and it turns out that there was once a “luxury” tax on long-distance services way back in 1898 to help pay for the Spanish-American War that is now refundable. As the article says “The refund will apply to the 3 percent excise tax billed to them on long-distance service since Feb. 28, 2003 and will include interest. Consumers will be able to claim it on their 2006 tax returns, which they will file in 2007.” So if you need some extra cash and you’ve paid for a long distance during those dates, by all means get some money back.

Woot!

Command-line lovers rejoice!

YubNub, the (social) command-line for the web.

YubNub is a command-line for the web. After setting it up on your browser, you simply type “gim porsche 911″ to do a Google Image Search for pictures of Porsche 911 sports cars. Type “random 49″ to return random numbers between 1 and 49, courtesy of random.org. And best of all, you can make a new command by giving YubNub an appropriate URL.

Oh yeah, and another thing that rocks about YubNub, it means “Hooray” in the Ewok language.

Don't hate the pirate hate the pirating!

Can one be smitten for copyright infringement on the Bible? Well, it appears so.

” I am a jealous God,” He said, “but I am by no means unreasonable. If the person will stop distributing My copyrighted materials, there will be no further consequences. Like I’ve said before: hate pirating, love the pirate.” Ironically, some of those most likely to be hit by these measures are among God’s biggest fans. The Reverend Alfred Jackson is a minister at the church of St. Cecilia in Kansas City. In his spare time, he maintains the Bible study website “eChapter and eVerse,” which cross-references large parts of the bible with commentary from clergy and laypeople from around the world.

God said that ‘spreading the Gospel’ was not a valid defense for distributing copyrighted materials. “Rev. Jackson has published at least 35% of My word electronically, where anyone with an internet connection can download it. Thrice did I call on him to repent; thrice did he ignore me or refer me to the EFF [Electronic Frontier Foundation].”

Of course these miracles haven’t gone unnoticed, he’s been promoted. To what you may ask? Well, Vice President of coffee making, what else? One can only assume who the President of coffee making is?

Here’s what Henry Thomas, President of Selby Communications had to say about the whole ordeal.

“I think we hired him as a security guard originally. I saw him tinkering with the coffee machine one morning and told him that it hadn’t worked for years, that it would take a miracle for it to start working again. The next thing I know I’ve got a hot cup of Ethiopian blend and I’m loving it.”

Protect the Western Arctic Reserve From Big Oil

The Western Arctic Reserve, also known as the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, is the largest tract of unprotected, relatively pristine public land in the United States. The 23.5 million-acre reserve is home to imperiled polar bears, seabirds and one of the densest populations of nesting raptors in the world. Its shores and lagoons harbor beluga whales, seals, walruses and other marine mammals. The BLM is accepting comments on a planning document that sets the stage for oil and gas leasing in the western Arctic for decades to come. Help save this national treasure by telling the BLM to protect the Western Arctic Reserve from dirty fossil fuel development »
