Soothesayer Tea

It's the perfect time of year for healing yogi tea, made from scratch following the traditional ancient Ayeurvedic recipe. I love drinking it to wind down after yoga, or to just find a still center before bedtime. I can't get the ingredients out here on the island, so please make it and enjoy.

Ancient recipe's are kept alive by sharing :)

The most alien-looking place on Earth

Socotra, Republic of Yemen:
It is very isolated with a harsh, dry climate and as a result a third of its plant-life is found nowhere else, including the famous Dragon’s Blood Tree, a very-unnatural looking umbrella-shaped tree which produces red sap. There are also a large number of birds, spiders and other animals native to the island, and coral reefs around it which similarly have a large number of endemic (i.e. only found there) species. Socotra is considered the most biodiverse place in the Arabian sea, and is a World Heritage Site.

Look at those awesome juicy plant lumplings!! Like something out of Dr Seuss. I WANT to be there.

Nothingness to Nothingness is the whole journey

Nothingness is Everything. Unmanifest while at the same time, it is absolute potential.

I feel like I am in a gap right now. I have had dreams of being suspended in nothingness, millions of light-years from the nearest piece of space debris or the stars scattered all around me. They look close, I feel part of them and they are connected to me and everything somehow, and I have a sense of belonging without question, but they are so far away at the same time. There is just silence and nothingness. Other dreams of falling through pitch black, that feeling of a falling elevator, with nothing under my feet and with no end, until I wake up.

I don't feel attached to anything that could really ground me. The only person who I have met on these travels who could possibly change that is not attached to anything either. Even less so. (more...)

WordPress HOW TO: Add Facebook “Like” and “Share” buttons on index.php

You can find instructions everywhere on how to add these buttons to individual pages in WordPress, but when it comes to the index page (the main blog list page), just putting the code into the loop doesn't work. You need to also specify the page URL for each post, or facebook will unhelpfully link to your main blog page every time. Here's the code:

Added Vitamins. The kiss that makes it all better.

I got treated for multiple cases of dreaded third world lurgy you don't even want to know about, two weeks ago. I had a feeling something was off when I tripped quite radically to the moon and back after every single meal, for about 4 months now and sure enough, there were a few serious reasons for that. The doctor was amazed I wasn't in physical pain too and had so much energy when really I should have been bedridden. I am too now that I think about it. A good friend of mine had to fly back home to Sweden in an emergency with this mystery illness. He could barely walk without nearly passing out when I last saw him a month ago and was tripping most of the time I tried to talk to him.

So anyway. The doctors here are amazing. As in, have no freaking idea what they are doing. I just checked out these "nutritional" capsules I was also given to take for a month, and have been taking daily, to "support your immune system and improve brain function", and they turn out to be Novocaine!?!! With added vitamins. Wow. that. explains. a lot.

I'm starting to realise that anything that comes with "added vitamins" is the first warning.

Just like chocolate milk, stained so dark from puss and blood from overproducing cows they can't do anything else with it to mask the taste or colour... with added vitamins. Mmmmmm!

Blessed Feathers

I've been completely in love with Blessed Feathers since 2 weeks ago, when I first heard from Donivan, a mutual Tallest Man on Earth fan, who stumbled on my vimeo profile, intrigued by the pic and quote and wrote to me with questions. I nosed around his profile of course watched his video and was instantly hooked. Donivan, Jacquelyn and Jordan are 3 exceptional kids from Portland Milwaukee, Wisconsin with an incredible rich sound and astounding songwriting skills. The banjo nearly plucks my heart out I have to hold onto it sometimes. I can't stand to not spread the love of their music everywhere and all the time, like peanut butter smeared on unsuspecting noses. I hope with all my heart to be lucky enough to meet them in my travels and hear them in full stereo earball all around me.

Independent workers make up 30% of the US workforce

Freelancers Union is our friend. "Creating new ways for independent workers to have affordable access to portable benefits."

Despite all that freelancers contribute to America's economy, most are taxed more than traditional employees, can't access affordable insurance, and have limited access to protections such as unemployment insurance, retirement plans, and unpaid wage claims. That's why Freelancers Union is writing new rules for the new workforce.

Our mission is to support independent workers and model solutions so that they can be secure and thrive, no matter how they work.
