When I’m around Joseph, which is all the time I suppose, I find myself laughing at the most terrible things. Shockingly inappropriate things. And I feel awful afterwards.

Looking at a photo together…

Me: “… I think she looks pretty good in this photo.”

Joseph: “Hmm. Yeah. Obviously the cuteness fairy didn’t sprinkle her with cuteness dust.”

Me: “Babe…Wow. Men are so much bitchier than women! That’s horrible.”

Joseph: “Come on! Okay, maybe. But come on! She looks like she ran through the ugly forest blindfolded and hit every ugly tree.”

Wow you got yourself a bitch there! And he loves you for your soul? mind? heart?

bird says:

Oh my gosh no. For my super brainy vagina.

In my working experience,. the shitty part of it when I was NOT self-employed, I was mostly the lone female in an office filled with men. Some gay, but it was the ‘straight’ ones who won the Oscars for bitchiness. The behind-the-back put downs were always phrased in the most humorous way, so that I felt so BAD for laughing along! The boys in the office slagged everyone and everything off all day long. I think it is called ‘transference’ … calling US bitches? Cats? Moi? Meeeeeow!

Bronnie says:

My thing is if they make cracks about that other woman what stops them when your fat/ skinny/ dimpled/ freckled objectified ass walks out the door they were probably making some joke about you. That old double standard – I will protect my sister, mother against other men because I know how they think because thats how I think about someone who is not my mother, sister etc.

bird says:

It’s so true!! However, I have come to realise (and still have to remind myself almost daily in moments of frustration) that men don’t behave anything like us or think in the same patterns, come to the same conclusions or see the same double standards. Unless its pointed out to them. But even then, even when they agree, it doesn’t change how they instinctively think and behave or respond to life. I’ve also come to realise that because we think so differently, we set really impossible standards of behaviour and are never satisfied with how they act and behave.

The only way to achieve those standards is to probably have a girlfriend. I’ve considered it plenty of times… But men are yummy and have their uses ;) (And that’s my own double-standard, and in my own ways I’m also very sexist. Its just that they’re so adorable when they’re serious about stuff. and sexy! I can’t help it.).

Bronnie says:

I think the conclusion is men are a bit basic but that is part of their charm : ) haha

Throw in your 2 cents...

I’d love that!

Protect the Western Arctic Reserve From Big Oil

The Western Arctic Reserve, also known as the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, is the largest tract of unprotected, relatively pristine public land in the United States. The 23.5 million-acre reserve is home to imperiled polar bears, seabirds and one of the densest populations of nesting raptors in the world. Its shores and lagoons harbor beluga whales, seals, walruses and other marine mammals. The BLM is accepting comments on a planning document that sets the stage for oil and gas leasing in the western Arctic for decades to come. Help save this national treasure by telling the BLM to protect the Western Arctic Reserve from dirty fossil fuel development »
