Help Save Japan’s Dolphins!
More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat. Giant Boat ? Not Noah’s arc by any chance ;-) Bon Voyage, Livvy
Thanks Tins! it was amazing. My favourite bit was the short visit to Belize. The day the ship docked there I woke up late and everyone had disappeared onto the mainland. So I caught a speedboat to a tiny island and spent the day swimming in a ridiculously idyllic lagoon and chatting to boy around my age on a kayak who’d been tanned to a crisp from the sun. The island was pretty desolate apart from a few local boys with dreadlocks, and a few girls who made ice-cream and coconut shrimp at a small shack. On this island I heard that foreign women were a rare sight and considered a treat. Everyone was so curious about me and where I came from. It was a dramatic contrast from mainland Belize which was inundated with tourists and souvenir shops… way too crowded.
I heard there are over a thousand islands around Belize, so I’m dying to go back there again one day to explore. It would be fun to swim from one to another where they are a few miles apart.
