Aah… life stylings

Baz from the old krewThanks for jogging my memory! I look back on one of my favourite days of awkward youth, sitting on the sidelines watching the boys doing amazing skateboard tricks at the park and wishing I could just have one as a friend (I daren't even imagine that he might some day even want to be my boyfriend). I liked to sit there and watch them on Saturdays hoping that one of the cute ones might notice me in the shadows and ask me to pull up my skateboard. As I sat there watching and having my day dreams they'd all eventually become my friends over the next few weeks and teach me their signature tricks until I would eventually excel over my teachers and became The Most Famous Skateboard Girl In The Entire World. I would fly my old krew out with me to all the most awesome competitions around the world and still have time to follow my other pursuits like winning drinking battles against large hairy bikers for money, and smoking without coughing. I look back on those days with such awe and admiration for what I achieved in such a short lifetime.

I truly am Awesome.

Emission-to-biofuel technology comes to South Africa

South African flagA newly formed biofuels company in South Africa has secured the rights to use a system that recycles CO2 in industrial plant flue gases into clean, renewable biofuels such as biodiesel.

“When algae are introduced to a rich carbon source, such as the flue gas emissions of a power plant, they propagate exponentially compared to traditional agricultural crops and do not compete for land or water that might otherwise be used for food production.”

LunarPages vs AN Hosting (MidPhase)

PLEASE NOTE: This article has expired. For a full host comparison please go to the unlimited host comparison page.

After loads of research over the weekend to find the perfect host, I finally moved my site today. What started off as a honeymoon romance a few years ago with LunarPages quickly soured over the last year as their tech support is now virtually non-existent and my site has frequent outages.

After careful and thorough research I finally decided on AN Hosting as my new host. They are a division of the more famous MidPhase, but they offer outstanding value for money. For less than half the price of LunarPages package I get loads more disk space, more bandwidth, my site loads faster, 24-hour tech support that really supports (I thoroughly tested this overnight during the move), and trusty cPanel. And for all intents and purposes, they are MidPhase.

When I grow out of their shared hosting, I can move over to one of their dedicated plans. They even offer Windows hosting with all the usual components.

Lets compare the two: (more...)
