Diamonds discovered in the Kalahari – Botswana to evict last remaining bushmen
Bushmen beg to keep their freedom
The Bushmen of the Kalahari — among Africa’s last indigenous peoples — are on the verge of losing their ancestral homeland after the Government of Botswana stepped up a campaign to force them into squalid resettlement camps. (more…)
British Airways introduces voluntary 'green fee'
Newindpress.com: British Airways (BA) on Monday launched a new scheme enabling passengers to make voluntary cash contributions to help offset the effects of carbon dioxide emissions.
The money raised will be used by an organisation called Climate Care to invest in sustainable energy projects that tackle global warming by reducing carbon dioxide levels, BA said on Monday.
Under the government-backed scheme, air travellers can choose to make a donation from Monday via a link from the airline website, towards the costs of tackling the emissions created by their journey. For example, the donation on a return flight from London Heathrow to Madrid will be £5, and a return flight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg will cost £13.30.

I missed World Naked Gardening Day on Saturday!!! But that’s okay. One day when I’m tending to our veggie patch in front of a hand-built cottage nestled between an unknown mountain and a stream, it will be Naked Gardening Day every day!

Congratulations England. She’s all yours!
I can only hope that this goes towards cricket overtaking football as the nation’s favourite sport. I prefer sports fans to hooligans.

Protect the Western Arctic Reserve From Big Oil
The Western Arctic Reserve, also known as the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, is the largest tract of unprotected, relatively pristine public land in the United States. The 23.5 million-acre reserve is home to imperiled polar bears, seabirds and one of the densest populations of nesting raptors in the world. Its shores and lagoons harbor beluga whales, seals, walruses and other marine mammals. The BLM is accepting comments on a planning document that sets the stage for oil and gas leasing in the western Arctic for decades to come. Help save this national treasure by telling the BLM to protect the Western Arctic Reserve from dirty fossil fuel development »
