I found this interesting article on AnteChamber:

Pyramids of EgyptNo Chosen Race: “The ancient Egyptians left no evidence that the Israelites were ever in Egypt, and the Sinai Peninsula lacks any evidence of the large encampments required for so many people to have made during 40 years of living in the desert.

Star of DavidAuthors Finkelstein and Silberman suggest in their book that it was Josiah, a descending king over a more developed Jerusalem who lived over 300 years after David, who ordered the transcription of the Old Testament stories. Josiah apparently believed, as have many great rulers since, that a national scripture was needed to cement a monotheistic religious orthodoxy. The Old Testament stories have continued to generate a national identity for the new Israel even today.”

“Amy Dockser Marcus, author of The View From Nebo: How Archaeology Is Rewriting the Bible and Reshaping the Middle East, notes that certain things like monumental structures, royal documents, or national scripture like the Old Testament, are almost always ‘a sign of state formation, in which power is centralized in national institutions like an official cult or monarchy.’”

MP Caught Watching Porn in Parliament
lapdancer“A Croatian MP was spotted watching a porn movie in parliament when he was supposed to be debating road safety.

He was allegedly seen watching an X-rated film on a laptop he had brought into parliament, local weekly Globus reported. One person in parliament who spotted the MP’s dirty movie said: ‘Within a few seconds he had the attention of all his male colleagues. It was very amusing.’ The MP allegedly spent five minutes watching the porn film before closing his laptop. No action is expected to be taken against him.”

Soy and Menopause
hot flushes“There are noticeable differences in menopausal symptoms between East and West. For example, it is estimated that while up to 85% of women in Western cultures have hot flashes and night sweats, less than 10% of Japanese women have hot flashes and less than 4% have night sweats.

One Japanese-born women commented that she had never heard of hot flashes until she came to the United States and wasn’t aware of a Japanese word for this condition. Although there may be several causes for these differences between East and West, researchers have focused on the possible effects of phytoestrogens found in the soyfoods so abundant in the Japanese diet.”

Sitagita.com: Soybean contains a family of chemical compounds similar to the oestrogens produced in the body.

WebMD Health: Does Soy Curb Hot Flashes?
Maybe, but Look for Relief From Food, Not the ‘Active Ingredient,’ Suggests Study

SoybeansOlivia’s Note: Soy products can cause allergies and other intolerance reactions in adults and babies. Always keep in mind that some individuals who are allergic to cow’s milk may well also be allergic to soy protein. Despite this it is added to a surprisingly vast amount of ready meals and other pre-packaged foods. If you have a double intolerance, read every label on every food product and cut out all foods that list ingredients such as: milk, whey, casein, milk solids, soya, textured vegetable protein, hydrolysed vegetable protein. I was originally intolerant of milk and soy but have since been desensitised, so I no longer need to cut it out of my diet.

Brain Fingerprinting could be the new Lie Detector Test
A convicted murderer facing a death sentence in America hopes that a new forensic science technique called “brain fingerprinting” which tracks human memories will rescue him from the executioner.

Jimmy Ray Slaughter was convicted in Oklahoma of the 1991 murders of his former girlfriend and their baby daughter and sentenced to die by lethal injection. He always said he was innocent but his appeals against the death sentence were running out when his lawyer heard about the technique. The tests showed that Slaughter did not commit the murders and an appeals court is expected to make a decision soon whether to free him.

brainBrain fingerprinting is supposed to assess the truthfulness of what a suspected criminal is saying by monitoring electrical “flashes” in the part of the brain associated with memory. The suspect is shown words, images or objects of the crime scene or a weapon that only the police or the person who committed the crime would know about.

An involuntary electrical signal in the brain – known as a P300 wave – registers recognition. It happens so fast, within 300 milliseconds, that it is deemed impossible to fake a response.

The technique has already been accepted as valid by courts in some US states and is being considered for use by the FBI and CIA, which have been impressed by tests.

Eikonoclast
Orchid in a bowlPieter and I discovered this gorgeous little gallery-shop on Kings Road in Brighton today. The bulging and beautiful window display enticed us in. We spent ages inside this little shop, browsing, surrounded by beautiful Japanese scents and aesthetically exquisite items to adorn your home with.

floral fabricEikonoclast is the perfect place to prezzie shop for that person who has everything because everything inside is exclusively available to Eikonoclast. In a place like Brighton that is quite an achievement!

Its a fairly new shop – only 8 months old – and I really recommend you visit, even if just to browse. Indulge and buy yourself a prezzie. You’ll feel amazing afterwards!

TRAVEL ADVICE
“So, if you go to double check the time your flight leaves, because you’re flying home to be a bridesmaid in your high school friend’s wedding, and it turns out that your flight leaves two hours before you thought it did, and you haven’t packed, and you’re across town from your suitcase, and you have no cash for a cab ride home, and you tear through your bag in the elevator to find your ATM card, don’t drop your ATM card down the elevator shaft. That’s inconvenient.”

Mark HobsonThere have been 175 reported sightings of suspected murderer at large Mark Hobson across Britain on Friday alone.

Problem is, he looks like just about every other British skinhead yob. Another good tip from the police on how to identify him: “He likes to drink a lot” which makes him according to aquaintences “a but of a nutter”. Well that will really make him stand out against the crowd of British skinhead yobs. I hope the psychological profilers have more info than this or they have no chance of telling him apart from the rest.

I dread to think he skipped the country ages ago. One sighting was in New Zealand.

More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat.
