About Yummy Wakame

How did it all start?

Yummy Wakame was born on the 16th of June 2002 and has grown from a little weblog and part-time hobby to a full-time freelance design business.

Have you seen my Portfolio recently?

What is wakame?

wakame soupWakame is a very tasty seaweed. It is often used in soups such as miso soup or in sunomono salads. Wakame is usually sold in dried form, and then soaked in water. I like it in thai food. Wakame is full of protein, calcium, iodine, magnesium, iron and folate, so it's really good for you!

Who am I?

Olivia, a wanderlusting South African from Cape Town, currently living and travelling in an RV across the United States. My favourite places to live in are Bisbee AZ, Portland OR, Austin TX and Tahoe CA, and I am rarely spotted in Brighton by the lovely English seaside.

I was born into a family of designers, artists and musicians, so despite starting off as a programmer, it was inevitable that I'd end up doing something creative.

I have over 11 years commercial- and agency experience designing and producing websites while focussing particularly on website usability. My skills include Photoshop, Macromedia Flash & Studio MX, meticulous (X)HTML and CSS hand-coding, AAA Accessible design- and code. I have a passion for making sites accessible and adhering to the strictest web standards. I have designed and produced front-ends for a number of content management systems and the sites they in turn produce, and have front-end ASP and PHP skills.
